Samtse Shivalaya Mandir

Shivalaya Mandir is being rebuilt upon the Command of His Majesty The King as a gift from His Majesty to the people of Samtse to commemorate the Royal Wedding. The mandir, which has been constructed out of intricately carved sandstone, and features marble statues of Lord Shiva and other deities, was built around a sacred site where a small mandir previously stood. It was completed in the year 2015, coinciding with the 60th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo (11 November 2015).

Devotees gather here to offer prayers, perform rituals, and seek blessings from Lord Shiva, fostering a sense of spiritual connection and community. The temple not only serves as a religious center but also symbolizes Bhutan’s commitment to religious harmony and cultural diversity, where Hindu traditions peacefully coexist alongside Buddhism, enriching the country’s cultural fabric and inviting visitors to experience its spiritual essence firsthand.
