Bengal History Museum

The Bengal Natural History Museum in Darjeeling has a fascinating history, originally conceived in 1903 with a modest budget under the initiative of the then Governor of Bengal. Initially focused on showcasing local butterflies and birds, the museum’s management was later taken over by the Bengal Natural Museum Society in 1923, and it was moved to a larger, more accommodating building. Today, it stands as one of the most prominent and unique museums in the region, offering an extensive collection of natural history exhibits.
